There has been a lot going on this past week at CCHS. Here are some of the activities that took place.
Our HOPE Squad spent several hours training this past week. Russ Boyer and Kaitlyn Grinder are our HOPE Squad advisors. Members of the HOPE Squad are the eyes and ears of our school. The group is comprised of students who are trained to watch for at-risk students; they provide friendship, identify warning signs, and seek help from adults for suicide prevention. Our HOPE Squad is comprised of students who have been identified by their classmates as trustworthy peers.
On Friday, September 21st, Detective Corey Smith from the Draper PD provided our faculty with some valuable crisis management training. He, along with Mr. Cannon, also trained us in some basic first aide. Detective Smith has been on campus as our School Resource Officer for almost one year.
PTC was this past Monday and Tuesday. Thank you for coming to the school and meeting your child’s teachers. If you were unable to make it, please feel free to reach out to the teachers and make an appointment if needed. Midterm is a good time to check your students attendance and grades. If you have any questions about your skyward login, contact our attendance office.
This Friday’s football game will have two special events. We will be recognizing firefighters and police officers for their dedication and service in our community. We will also have a special flag ceremony presented by both the Brighton and the Corner Canyon high football teams. They will participate in conjunction with the “Follow the Flag” organization, where they will present “BIG BETSY” the largest flag ever flown.
Congratulations to our Boys Golf Team on winning the Region Championship on Wednesday. A huge shout out to Mitch Anderson for winning the region individual title.
Congratulations to Sebastian Lee and Peter Oldham on being named semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Competition.
Good Luck to our Performing Arts Department as they travel to Cedar City this weekend and compete in the annual Shakespeare Competition.
Fences are put up, trenches dug, equipment is on-site and construction is under way. I will continue to post updates as well as photos to the changes on our campus throughout the construction of the additional classrooms and cafeteria.
